Name?
My name is COD Nkosi. COD is an acronym that stands for “Character Over Discussion.”
What is your profession?
I am a rapper, singer, and songwriter. Above all, I am an ARTIST.
How did you get into the field you are in today?
To be honest, boredom is what made me want to tap into music more. I was always musically inclined, but one day I was in the desert in California during one of my training sessions when I was in the Army. There was a lot of down time, so with me trying to make the most of it, I started listening to instrumentals. Instrumentals eventually led me to write lyrics. Ultimately, I started to dive more deep into the creative aspect of it.
What do you love most of your profession?
I love how music is a universal language. It can speak to all forms, facets of life. Therefore, what I love about my profession is that I am able to speak to all types of individuals. No matter the race, religion, etc. If the music speaks to you, you’ll feel it and resonate.
Tell us more about what you do?
I am always working with other artists and also assisting others in artist development.
When did you discover that you had a passion for this field?
The moment I knew I had passion for it was when I was willing to put my own money to help support the movement. I had to see my potential and how unique I can be in this field. Once that was done, I dived more deep into it.
Who in your field do you look up to?
I support and look up to a variety of artists. I’m talking from all genre’s and era’s of music. But I will just boil it down to my top 3. My top 3 are the following: DMX, Lil Wayne, and 50 cent.
