Name
My name is Man1ac
What is your profession?
Man1ac is a multifaceted talent. He is an artist first, but also a producer and audio engineer.
How did you get into the field that you are in today?
It all started with me downloading this app called Bandlab back in 2016. Bandlab is a powerhouse of an app now, back then you couldn't do anything but upload a beat a record. Nowadays, you can use vocal presets and do full on mixing there. But anyways, I started out doing remixes to some songs and then eventually branched out into making my own original works. I even started making my own beats on the phone using low cost apps like GrooveMixer, LoopLabs and even found out FL Studio had a mobile app available for use. Growing up, I didn't have a way to truly have steady income come in so I had to find ways to make my dreams come true without a boatload of money. Luckily enough, my stepdad married my mom and I found out he made music as well. He started letting me use his equipment and from that point on, the rest of history. I started making my own beats and doing my own mixing and mastering because I didn't want to have to dig out my pockets everyday for those services, so I taught myself everything from Youtube and trial and error. We fast forward to 2025 and I think it is very safe to say I've become proficient in truly being able to craft everything I want the way I want it.
What do you love most about your profession?
What I love most is just creative release you get to feel when making music. Especially considering I literally do EVERYTHING myself, I feel like a kid in a candy shop a lot of the time. The excitement you get when you make a song and you really REALLY like it .. It gives you an obsession to make more and more and more. There's constant motivation because you truly are able to just say and do whatever the hell you want on these music compositions. And even if you make a song you don't necessarily like, you always have the opportunity to make another one. This is a life I wouldn't trade for anything. And the fact I am even blessed enough to be able to make this my reality is so crazy to me. Like this is a privilege. Alot of people get caught up in being normal, trying to fit in with corporate work, living in a linear timelapse. But I feel like throughout life, even if it isn't you profession, you should explore that creative side at some point.
Tell us more about what you do?
As I mentioned before, I also do mixing and producing for others as well. It brings me so much joy when I can be a part of someone's success. There is so much hidden talent out here in the world, its so insane. But I mainly focus on my own work, but here and there I make beats for other artists or mix their sessions when need be.
When did you discover that you had a passion for this field?
I knew I had a passion for music when I used be in the store with my parents, dancing to whatever music was playing in the shops and my parents would have to grab me because I was bringing so much attention to them LOL. I was like 6 years old breaking it down to Michael Jackson in the middle of Walmart. It was only a matter of time until I actually got into making music myself. The rhythms, the melodies, the sonics, all communicated with me in a way that I felt only superstars feel. I was put on this path for a reason and I'm doing my absolute best to take advantage of this opportunity I have
Who in your field do you look up...
As all my friends know, Travis Scott is my biggest inspiration. He was literally the one to break the barriers for me. In my adolescent years, I was one of those people that was like "ANYTHING AUTOTUNE IS TRASH, WHAT IS THIS MUMBLE RAP", but man when I heard Rodeo for the first time ... its just like everything finally clicked. Travis is the reason that I am willing to listen to other genres and experience the energy of so many different types of music. He created a world where he brought the rawness of hip hop and rap, but also the style of the new age with melodies and flows that carries the essence of the youth. And people don't know man, he actually be talking bout some REAL STUFF. You know you always going to have your fair share of party and rage type music, but he truly has some deep cuts throughout his catalog that I think are on par with some of the greats.
